Recent extreme climate changes have caused numerous disasters, underscoring the urgent need to reconnect with and protect our environment, a message emphasized in the works of The Call. The word “Ming” (鳴) means bird song, symbolizing nature’s constant presence and interaction, which echoes “The Call” well. Composed of the “mouth” (口) and “bird” (鳥), “Ming” signifies bird calls or animal sounds and the act of making a sound. In contemporary usage, it also conveys issuing a warning. This multifaceted meaning makes “Ming” integral to my work, representing nature, meditation, alertness, and communication. Have we overlooked such a simple “Ming” as a call?
