It is a dialogue between ink wash and calligraphy, based on the art of writing, Chinese calligraphy, and an evocation of the word in ink wash with a playful twist.
The two characters, the river on the left and the water on the right, together form the word "river" with an emphasis on the sense of flowing water. The pattern in the background represents the Seine.
