It is a dialogue between ink wash and calligraphy, based on the art of writing, Chinese calligraphy, and an evocation of the word in ink wash with a playful twist.
The character for "city" at the top and the one for "countryside" at the bottom together mean "village." The drawing evokes a Chinese philosophy of "squaring the circle."
